What You Are Not Supposed To Do

I had every intention of writing this first blog post last night, but then I got into an hour long battle with a stuffed elephant.  It ended well enough:  he was disemboweled and I was feeling a little high from Static Guard fumes.  The real casualty was that this post was never written.

Writing calls to me all the time.  I compose in my head as much as I simply think.  I jot notes compulsively so those thoughts that comes so quickly don't drift away forever.  I did have a blog on another site, one I've had since just after college (or at the end of college?), and it didn't feel like it fit me anymore.  This is the new start.

Websites and blogs about starting blogs say to to pick a focus, stick with one thing and write about that, define your brand, and I get all that, but this blog is about the things I like to share and those don't fit into one neat category.  In fact, more and more, I'm starting to understand that compartmentalizing the good things in my life and trying to keep them separate makes me feel like I have less of each of them.  On the other hand, blending the boundaries of them makes everything feel more bountiful.

Maybe the experts are right and this is going to be a hot mess.  But I think it will be beautiful, so come walk through life-- all parts of it-- with me.  It's awesome.
